A Message from Mireles
What an amazing first week it has been! Considering all of the change, our students really have adjusted quite well. Thank you for your support as we transition into a "new" way of doing things, we absolutely could not do this without you! Although the first couple of weeks are always filled with anticipation and excitement, they are also some of the most exhausting, so take this long Labor Day weekend and enjoy every minute of it! Before we know it the cool breeze and falling leaves will be upon us!

As you work together as a PLC to create your Academic Coaching Schedule, please keep the following in mind:
- Schedule Academic Coaching in the mornings from 7:45-8:20 -this is when you will be able to reach most kids!!
- Please make sure that coaching is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at the very least. ELA should be able to cover every morning due to the larger number of teachers.
- In addition, you may offer after school coaching, but remember not to schedule anything on Tuesday afternoons.
- Remember all students are "our" students and be willing to help all students, not just those on your roster!!
- Please turn in your coaching schedule to your department coordinator. Coordinators, please turn them in to Kim. DUE September 7th

MINDSET
If you haven't had a chance to dive into the book yet that's okay, this weekend is a great opportunity to begin!
Fixed or Growth Mindset?
Dweck writes that there are two mindsets we can have: a fixed mindset or a growth mindset.
A fixed mindset is a mindset that you have qualities that are carved in stone and unchanging. Dweck says that people with a fixed mindset feel the need to prove themselves over and over again.
A growth mindset is a belief that with effort you can grow your basic qualities. Everyone can change through application and experience!
So, do you have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset?
