October 2021
October is my favorite month of the year! We have our home-to-school-to-home routine down and the weather is fabulous with the warm sunshine during the day leading up to cool evenings and chilly mornings. The only thing that I do not like is Daylight Savings Time when we have to "fall back" and the darkness arrives early in the day. I enjoy my evening walks with the dogs and we will have to get those in right after school because I do not like to be out with them in the dark. The 7th Reading Challenge was to finish a book in 3 weeks- lots of students came in to get their treat along with their name on the FINISHER wall. I just spent a couple of days with 8th grade ELA talking about digital citizenship, new books, older favorite titles, and scary books. We are starting the 2nd quarter of the year and the countdown to the holidays is on! I hope you are finding something that you like to read and exploring new genres.

Fascinating Facts about Libraries.
The word 'Library' is derived from the Latin word 'Liber' which means “book”. Meanwhile, according to Britannica.com the 'Latinized Greek word, bibliotheca, is the origin of the word for library in German, Russian, and the Romance languages'.
(The first 10 students that come in and let me know that you read this fascinating fact gets a sweet treat!)
