This Week at SOTA
NKU School of the Arts - Feb. 19, 2020
Tickle the new ivories
Last week, we bid farewell to three grand pianos that served NKU well for 50 years and welcomed two new 7’ grand pianos. The choir room now has a beautiful Boston 7’ grand piano and a brand new 7’ Steinway B is housed in the keyboard studio. This was the first phase of the purchase and repair of pianos at NKU. Stay tuned for more exciting news as NKU invests in the future.
Student Art at the Levee
The Scripps Center and NKU’s School of the Arts are partners in a student photography and painting exhibit at Newport on Levee. About 40 pieces are on the walls at the Levee Gallery, which is located in a hallway between the garage and the shops (follow the signs; Third Street Hallway entrance). A reception and opening will be tonight Feb. 19, 5:30-7 p.m. No RSVP required. NKU professors Rachael Banks (photography) and Kevin Muente (painting) curated the exhibit. Visit the exhibit at your convenience through mid-May.
Set Sail for HMS Pinafore!
Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore will receive a rare local production from Feb. 21-March 1. Music Director Damon Stevens and Chorus Master Kimberly Lazzeri joined WVXU's Andy Ellis to preview this comic operetta. Tickets can be purchased at nku.edu/sotatickets.
