Weekly Newsletter
This past Wednesday, March 8th was International Women's Day. International Women's Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement. So, this week, I'd like to highlight a couple of amazing women on our campus - one a student, Marlie Wright, and the other an employee, Gabriella Hooshmand.
Marlie is currently a Senior here at ECHS. She has worked hard over the last four years. She is enrolled in several Advanced Placement (AP) classes, maintains an excellent grade point average, and is very involved in extra curricular activities. She is a member of our National Honor Society and the captain of our Varsity Academic League. In January, Marlie was named the Miss San Diego Outstanding Teen. This is part of the Miss San Diego Scholarship Organization which is our local Miss America Organization. This summer, Marile will move on to compete for Miss Teen California. Let's all wish this Wildcat the best of luck! (Pictured in the center below). Marlie was also recently featured on the Oceanside Spectrum for being named a US Presidential Scholarship Candidate. She also talks about the Miss San Diego Outstanding Teen competition as well.
Keep up the excellent work, Marlie... I truly believe we will see you in the White House one day! To watch Marlie's interview, check it out here: Marlie Wright - Oceanside Spectrum Interview.
Mrs. Hooshmand currently serves as our School Community Advisor. She provides many supports as well as language translation for our Spanish speaking families. Ms. Hooshmand is also the advisor for our Hermanitas club which is part of the MANA organization. She provides mentorship, leadership skills, and much more for young Hispanic ladies on our campus. This past Wednesday evening, Mrs. Hooshmand was recognized by Mayor Esther Sanchez for her work with Hermanitas and the MANA organization.
Thank you so much, Mrs. Hooshmand, for ALL you do here at ECHS!!
