UNC Schools Admissions Requirements Information
A recent update has come out from the UNC system schools about their testing policy for anyone looking to go starting in Fall 2023. As a reminder, UNC system schools are all public schools in the state of North Carolina NOT just the schools that have UNC in the name.
On February 24, 2022 the Board voted to require that any student looking to be accepted to a UNC system school must have either a 2.5 weighted GPA, a 19 ACT score, or a 1010 SAT score. Additionally, even if a student meets the minimum GPA requirement that student must still submit standardized test scores. This means that students entering a UNC system school in Fall of 2022 are the last class that do not have a testing requirement, all future classes MUST submit a test score. This policy will be in effect until Fall 2025 meaning it will affect all of you!
If you are considering going to any of the 16 UNC system schools (App State, ECU, Fayetteville State, North Carolina A&T, NCCU, NC State, UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, UNC Pembroke, UNC Wilmington, UNC School of the Arts, WCU, or Winston Salem State University) then please be aware that you will need to take the SAT or ACT if you haven't already done so. If you have any questions please feel free to email Ms. Butner.
Middle College Accepting Applications
As a reminder, students must also submit a copy of their transcript, discipline record, and attendance record.
All items should be sent directly William_Evans-Jr@dpsnc.net…preferably via email but they may mail or bring them by if necessary. The deadline for this application round will be May 6th and we will now accept students on a first come, first served basis. Thank you.
