Tigerville Times
May Edition
From the Principal's Desk
It is hard to believe that we are in our last month of school. This year has been different, but we are grateful to be part of the best school. We have the best teachers, staff, students, and families.
Sincerely,
D. Jackson
Art Lines
The month of May finds the art room as busy as a bee….buzz, buzz, buzz! We are fully into our end of year clay projects for all grade levels! I am excited to be working in clay with my classes because this time last year we did not get to do the clay works due to Covid and school going to all virtual. This year we are in full swing with great art learning experiences. Each grade level class is doing a special project. My hopes are that K4 – 2nd grades will have their projects done in time to surprise some special moms with a Mother’s Day treasure made by little hands! Grades 3rd – 5th will have their clay pieces finished before the end of the year. Clay provides opportunity for students to explore creating in 3 dimensional forms as opposed to 2 dimensional shapes. Creating in clay gives students the ability to add texture, manipulate and model their forms, learn clay techniques and enjoy the experience. How else can a young boy or girl find happiness in getting their hands covered in “mud” from ancient earth to create a treasure that is fired in a 2000-degree kiln, followed by adding glaze or a finishing technique that allows that mud to become a treasure for the years! Be sure to ask your student what all the “buzz” is about and maybe they can share their artsy experience and art process with you…..after Mother’s Day and secret surprises are revealed of course!

Library Loop
Summer reading will start at the end of school. Thsi year's theme is Pop Open a Good Book. Students will complete the reading log by reading 10 books. Then, they will return the reading log to Mrs. Imms by August 17 for a Popcorn treat. The summer reading log will come home the last week of school. Be watching for the reading log.
Music Notes
Hard to believe this is our last full month of school this year. We have a great deal going on in our school the month of May with testing and Field Days (and 3rd-5th E-Learning on May 7th) and I wanted to make sure you knew your child does NOT need to make up music assignments missed due to these activities. We are now trying to wrap our last unit of study and show the students some activities they can do over the summer if they would like. Quaver Music has been an amazing tool to use in the Music Class this year and most of the students love spending time on Quaver Street. I hope to send some Codes over the summer, on Quaver, that will allow the kids to have even more fun while learning about music. Students can get these codes by logging in to Quaver and clicking on the A+ circle. I will name them Quaver Codes so they can find them quickly.
Next year we will have a Tigerville Chorus again so make sure to look for audition information within the first few weeks of school. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or send me an e-mail. Thanks for allowing me the joy of teaching your child this year!!!!!
