The Red Wolf is primarily found in the Coastal Plains of NC.

Threats to the red wolf include habitat loss due to human development, severe weather, deaths by motor vehicles, and illegal killings.
Restoration
According to the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, federal funding for the red wolf totaled $3,577,630 in fiscal year 2013, while state funding for the wolf totaled $44,125 in fiscal year 2013, for a total of $3,621,755 in government spending in 2013. In fiscal year 2012, federal funding totaled $3,900,000, while state governments spent only $1,500 in 2012.
