Congregation Shaarei Kodesh
Civil Rights Journey of the South Trip! March 18-20, 2020
Join Rabbi David Baum and your CSK friends for an intergenerational trip of the Civil Rights South!
WHEN: Wednesday, March 18- Friday, March 20, 2019
WHO: Adults & Children 7th grade and up
ABOUT: The Civil Rights Journey is one in which your participants will become empowered and inspired to come back home and get involved by realizing they currently have the power to make a difference. They will meet with Reverends who worked and strategized with Dr. King as well as people who participated in the march from Selma to Montgomery. These are primary sources. Jewish involvement in the Movement and how our story correlates with this story will be discussed. The Names Project/AIDS Quilt and the Civil Rights stories from the 1950s and 1960s will help us understand how a variety of groups have fought for their voices to be heard in this country and world.
