Dismissal Reminders
In order for everyone to be safe, FSMA has dismissal procedures that we wanted to remind everyone of...
At the end of the day, we triple check how children go home. The office has a list, the classroom teachers have a list, and the carline/bus checkers have a list. This is to ensure that every day every child is sent home the right way. Believe it or not, we process about 40 dismissal changes a day and because of this, we ask that families follow these guidelines so that we can ensure everyone gets where they need to be.
All Dismissal Changes should be done as early as possible. After 2:30, we cannot process dismissal changes. This is because of our triple check system... it is very hard to track everyone down at the last minute to communicate the change and this is a very busy time in our office.
Parking at Dismissal - we have heard reports that FSMA families are double parking or parking illegally to come and get their child. FSMA is a part of the city community and we hope that our families will join us in being respectful of the rules and laws for parking.
Late Buses - We understand that this is a huge inconvenience and we are working with the bus company to minimize this. If a bus is leaving more than 15 minutes late, we will send out an email with the estimated delay. Currently we only use the phone call system for emergencies.
A few things that would be extremely helpful:
- Please DO NOT TEXT staff members/ office staff and ask them to process your dismissal change.
- Please put all changes in writing (while we know our older students are responsible, we can not rely on them to just tell us they are going home differently).
- When possible, please keep dismissal changes to a minimum.
- Please make sure your list of people approved to pick up your child is up-to-date. If you need another form, let the office know and we will send it home. Or, if you want to check if you have one on file, call the office and we can check.
- If you participate in afterschool activities at FSMA, please be clear in your dismissal change and articulate if this is a one-time change or permanent change.
If you have any questions or suggestions about our procedures, please email courtney.fox@fsma.k12.de.us
And, thank you for understanding that all of these procedures are put in place to ensure safety. We know some of them can be inconvenient but with the amount of children we serve and need to get home, it is important that we all follow them as best we can.
