WHAT IS THE STREPTOCOCCAL INFECTION?

The Streptococcus infection, or more widely known as ‘strep throat’, is a bacterial infection that is very common in children. Symptoms of this disease involve: a sick feeling, red or sore throat, fever of 101 or higher, and pain when swallowing.

HOW TO PREVENT STREP THROAT!

Because strep throat is a communicable disease, it is HIGHLY contagious among younger children. Ways you can prevent contracting strep throat include washing your hands thoroughly, avoiding people with symptoms of this disease, disinfecting your phone regularly, and receiving routine immunizations.

TREATMENT OPTIONS:

If you do contract strep throat, don’t worry; it is treatable! If you suspect signs of strep throat, consult your doctor in order to be checked and tested for this infection. Some common treatment options include antibiotic prescriptions such as penicillin, in order to fully kill the bacteria. Home remedies for coping with these symptoms include drinking cold beverages, eating cold foods such as popsicles, and catching up on rest!
