OASC FIRST
JUNE
IT'S OFFICIALLY WORKSHOP SEASON!!!
Advanced has already kicked off and June BASIC starts next week. Advisors please check with your students to make sure they are all still coming (remember female waiting list in June). If your kids are not coming please email Janet Carter at janet.carter@sulphurk12.org and let her know. It will save us having to call and track them down when they don't show.
Reminder that we are already past the refund date for June session but the refund deadline for July session is June 20th. In addition, remember every delegate is mailed a packet with info to their home address. If they can't find it most of the important information can be found under the BASIC tab on oascok.org
Students looking for an easy packing list can follow this link to the 2017 BASIC brochure.https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3horIpPDeu6V2pMSTJDQ3R2UzJCZlJiaHRmdE1OdFMyR2c4/view?usp=sharing
As of last week the June BASIC session stands at 330 registrants and July at 316 registrants.
OASC/OKLAHOMA THUNDER DAY OF SERVICE
On May 25th, I met with Jennifer Young, Account Executive and Mac Maddox, Manager Group & Season Sales at the Thunder corporate offices to work on ways the Thunder could expand their community outreach to work with student leaders across the state. While we have several ideas in the works including a President/Advisor luncheon at the corporate office tied to a game, we have committed to an OASC/THUNDER DAY OF SERVICE.
The plan is to check in at noon at the OKC Food Bank and have leadership programming before/after work at the foodbank. While the actual Thunder players will be unavailable due to gameday prep, Corporate Office has plenty of dynamic speakers and young professionals that could do panels or breakouts. We would follow up with a Thunder game together with tickets ranging from $30-$45 per person. What is awesome about the Food Bank is that we can say how many meals we provided as well as target school programs to benefit like the backpack initiative. We can also compete as teams for fan experiences at the game. If we sell at least 50 tickets to the game, the fan experience is for 16 OASC members to be a bench warmer during warmups. If we sell 75 tickets, the fan experience is for 16 OASC members to take part in the High Five Tunnel. So we can have the kids who package the most meals get a fun bonus at the game.
We are looking at December game dates as we all have a busy fall and OASC State Convention is early November. We will send out a WUFOO registration when the Thunder finds a game day that works with a day of service with the OKC Food Bank.
