School Council Nominations

The deadline to apply is TONIGHT, Friday, May 20, 2022 at 5pm!!!

It’s that time of year…!! School Council nominations are OPEN.

The School Council is a group made up of teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners that work together to address school improvement goals. We only meet 5 times per school year, but the meetings are a great way to voice questions and offer suggestions to meet challenges.

We have three parent positions to fill, so if you would like to volunteer your services for a two-year term, or know someone who would be a great addition, please use this nomination form to submit names and info.

All parents (excluding those who work at the school) are welcome to apply!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Aleksandar, an upper elementary student, who has been officially selected to receive NASA's "You've Got Perseverance!" Award.

Learn more about the amazing opportunities that he will receive with this award on the Ellis website.

Medication Pick-Up

Per Nurse Chris, student medication should be picked up on the following schedule:

Monday, May 23rd- "As Needed" medication

Tuesday, May 24th- Daily and emergency medication

Please contact Nurse Chris to schedule a curbside pick-up (christine.oboyle@sccpss.com or 912-395-5470 Ext. 71213)

All medication remaining in the school after May 25th will be destroyed per SCCPSS policy.

Missing Chargers

If your student did not return a charger for their school device and they do not have a valid Family Protection Plan on file with the school, you should have received a paper notice sent home with your student and an email on Friday (check your SPAM folder).

If Ms. Lisa does not receive the charger OR payment for the charger by Tuesday, May 25th, a fee (stated below) will go on your student's account.

The replacement cost of chargers are as follows:

iPads (PreK-K)- $25

Chromebooks (1st-8th Grades)- $30

You may send cash or check (made payable to Ellis Montessori Academy) to school with your student to pay for the missing charger or Ms. Lisa will be posting the charge to School Cash Online, where you can pay with debit/credit card or e-check, on Tuesday, May 25th. There is information on the Ellis website about registering for a School Cash Online account if you haven't done so already.

Please note: Per SCCPSS policy, if there is a balance due on your student's account for a damaged device or lost charger, they will NOT receive a school device next school year.

If you have questions, contact Ms. Lisa (lisa.odonnell@sccpss.com).

Free Dress Down Day

Tuesday, May 25th, will be a FREE dress down day for the last day of school!

Students should abide by the "Acceptable Dress for Non-Uniform Days" guidelines on page 17 of the 2021-2022 Student Code of Conduct.

Original Works Fundraiser

Ellis is participating in a fundraiser called Original Works, where you can purchase items printed with your student's original artwork. All proceeds will go towards sending teachers to upcoming AMS (American Montessori Society) conferences for professional development.

These items would make great gifts for friends and family members!

All orders are shipped directly to your home!

The deadline to order is May 24th.

Did you know that Charles Ellis Montessori Academy participates in a Farm to School grant?

Representatives from Savannah Victory Gardens as well as the SCCPSS Nutrition Department work with our students on a monthly basis. Students participate in program activities such as: gardening, farm visits, nutrition, local produce samples, and more. School garden activities encourage healthy eating, get children to try new foods, teach the fundamentals of good nutrition, connect children to the concept of growing seasons, promote healthy outdoor physical activity, and offer students the chance to participate in environmentally meaningful activities.

We need your help. Please complete the short care-giver survey to share your views on the importance of school nutrition and school gardening program. Thank you!
