What Do the Numbers Mean?
Calories= ENERGY Most people need about 2000 calories a day.
Calorie requirements vary with age, gender and activity level.
There are Six Major Nutrients
Proteins, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals, water, and fat
Calories are in which three nutrients?
FAT = 9 calories per gram CARBOHYDRATES = 4 calories per gram PROTEINS= 4 calories per gram
Recommended amounts on 2000 calorie diet
Fat = 65 grams of fat or less a day.
Carbohydrates 300 grams or less a day.
Protein= 50 grams a day.
Caffeine is a substance found in the leaves, seeds of fruits of more than 60 plants. It occurs naturally in coffee, tea, chocolate, and colas. Caffeine may be added to soft drinks, energy drinks, or bars. It is an ingredient in hundreds of over-the-counter and prescription medications.
What Happens with Too Much Caffeine? Restlessness, anxiety, irritability, muscle tremors, sleeplessness, headaches, nausea, and/or diarrhea.
Brunch for A Crowd!
Breakfast Ingredients:
3 loaves white bread
4 cans (10.75 oz) cream of cheddar soup (vegetarian)
4 (30 oz) frozen hash browns
2 gallons milk
4 (64 oz) orange juice
5 doz eggs
1 lb butter
10- 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
3 lbs sausage
2- 16 oz strawberries
2 cantaloupes
1 watermelon
1 & 1/2 lbs red grapes
1 & 1/2 lbs green grapes
1 green and red pepper
1 onion
Bought 4 packages muffins at Costco (cut into fourths)
Bought apple strudel at Costco (cut in half)
10 aluminum baking pans
Hash Brown Casserole (Made 4)
Ingredients:
1 (2 pound) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of cheddar
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray one 9x13 inch pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, butter, salt, pepper, onions, soup and cheese. Gently mix and pour into prepared pan or dish. Bake in the preheated oven until brown, about 35 minutes.
Egg Bake (Made 6 - 3 vegetarian and 3 sausage)
Ingredients:
10 slices of bread
10 eggs
3 cups milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups cheese
2 1/2 cups meat (sausage)
1/2 cup peppers, diced
1/2 cup onions, diced
Directions: Spray 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray. Lay 6 slices of white bread w/o crust on bottom. Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. Sprinkle 2 & 1/2 cups of meat and 1 cup onion and peppers. Place 4 slices cubed bread on top and pour milk/egg/salt mixture evenly in pan. Bake 350-375 for about 50 minutes.
TIP~ Start egg bake first. Estimated serves 60 people

What is fast food? Fast food is made quickly, usually with preheated or precooked ingredients, prepared in bulk and sold in packaging to customers.
There are about 250,000 fast food restaurants in the United States.
Fast food restaurants generate revenues of 570 billion globally each year. 96% of American children know who Ronald McDonald is.
Fast food has been around for about 70 years, since 1948!
