Well the snow arrived a little early...

On Friday during the day we had our first snowfall of the season. As you can tell it did not stick. But it was a great reminder and a sign of the times! We encourage parents to check the weather and make sure their students have been making the move towards more winter gear! Hats, gloves, boots, layering, layering and more layering.

The USDA will be extending free meals for all students through June 30, 2021.

(Mt. Wolf, PA, October 9, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is extending flexibilities to allow free meals to continue to be available to all children throughout the entire 2020-2021 school year. This unprecedented move is part of USDA’s unwavering commitment to ensuring all children across America have access to nutritious food as the nation recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nurse Notes

Some parents may have already seen this form, some have not. I wanted to take a moment and share our COVID-19 document that we currently use with any student who complains of not feeling well.

If or when your student comes to the office we have a set procedure in place to gather information based on this form. At a safe distance, in a confidential setting we ask each student if they have any of the following symptoms (Symptoms A and Symptoms B list) We then will mark next to each item yes or no. If students complain about multiple symptoms we will then go back over the symptoms using a 1-10 metric of discomfort as typically done when seeing your provider. This will usually give us a good idea about what are the most bothersome symptoms. With this information we are able to make a decision if the student would be able to continue their school day or if they should be sent home due to illness and what the recommended next steps would be for parents and the school. This form is typically sent home with students so parents know what questions were asked and what the next steps would be.

We encourage you to check your child's temperature each morning before they come to school and make sure that they do not have any of Symptoms A or 2 or more of Symptom B list. If they do then they should not come to school.

We appreciate all the flexibility parents are providing. Each day we are able to complete face to face instruction is a win and we are working hard to keep our school staff, students, families and community safe.
