A Brief History on Plato
The Athenian philosopher Plato is thought to be one of the most important and influential philosophers in the Western World. Plato was born around 428 B.C., and was the son of Ariston and Perictione. Plato was educated in Philosophy, poetry, and gymnastics by well known teachers such as Cratylus and Socrates. He went on to write various dialogues and discuss his opinions on life. Plato questioned why everything that humans do is done, and why.
Plato's Ideas
Plato shared thousands of ideas about how he believed life should be. Plato had four major ideas on how he believed life could be more fulfilled. These ideas included thinking more, letting your lover change you, decoding the message of beauty, and to reform society. Plato is also very famous for his dialogues in which he expressed his opinions on various ideas. For example, in his dialogue, "The Republic", Plato discussed his political views on Athens, and his reasoning behind why the government shouldn't be a democracy. All in all, Plato was the first real philosopher to make various discoveries on the way of life and other issues, which we still use today.
Plato's contribution to Philosophy
Plato basically introduced the idea of philosophy, and taught Aristotle, another famous philosopher today. Plato introduced thousands of ideas about life and other subjects, that we still use today. It is also said that Plato found an inherent connection between metaphysics and ethics. Plato is also very well known for his dialogues, especially "The Republic", which set precedents for ways of life as well as politics.
