Welcome Back!

Back in January, I made made a personal commitment to focus on gratitude in my own life. Over the next few weeks I will use this space to discuss school goals and how we are living out GCA's foundations, but at the end of this first week I feel it is very fitting to list a few things for which I am extremely thankful:

  • I am thankful for the innumerable positive interactions I have had with parents, students, and staff this week
  • I appreciate the opportunity to help educate your families
  • I recognize the graciousness and patience that has been shown as we navigate this unique re-opening
  • I am so grateful to GCA parents and students who are working to make sure they are abiding by new guidelines
  • I am especially thankful for GCA teachers who are making major adjustments this year
  • I have benefited greatly from the dedication to detail that our GCA support staff has shown

I hope you know how grateful I am for each of your contributions to a tremendous first week.

Big picture

Pickup and drop-off have gotten smoother each day. Here are a few simple guidelines to help your pickup experience run smoothly:

Grades 1-5 gather in the pickup area at 3:15

Grades 6-12 are dismissed from class at 3:20. If you are picking up a middle school or high school student, it is probably best to simply park and wait until they come out rather than be in the pickup line.

K3, K4, and K5 students must be picked up in the building rather than the pickup line. You may pick them up as early as 3:00.

Remember that both lanes in front of the building are one-way. If you are in the pickup-up lane (closest to the buildings) please remain in line until the lane clears. If you need to leave before the line clears, please park and walk your child across.

You may park in either of GCA's parking lots and have your student come to you. We will allow middle school and high school students to cross the crosswalk under the crossing guard's direction, but elementary students should be accompanied by a parent.

Thank you for helping us all stay safe by remaining patient and observant during pick-up.
