Green Team! Finally Organized to Be More Efficient

Our Green Team is now divided into two separate teams so that our school's recyclables can be picked up more often and more efficiently. Our 5th Grade Green Team members will pick up during their recess on Tuesday mornings (around 10:30). Our 4th Grade team members will collect recyclables from teacher workrooms, computer labs, and offices on Thursday afternoons during their recess (around 1:30) . If your recycling bin is absolutely running over and one of these collection times is not close by, you may put your recycling bin in the hallway. One of the custodians or Mrs. Heavner will help you out!

If you see any of the large brown recycling tubs that we have used in the past, please let Mrs. Heavner know where they are. Our Green Team still uses these tubs during the collection process.

Service Project Updates

Tryon Elementary students love accepting Kid President's challenges to make the world more awesome. Our students collected 235 pairs of socks and other toiletry items for #soctober. In November and December, students worked together to collect more than 970 canned food items! All donations were given to local area crisis ministries.

Way to go Tryon Tigers!!!

Let's #BookItForward

Our next service project is #BookItForward. I am asking parents to send in new or gently used books for our students and staff to share with others. You can do the same!! Books of all types, for any age or level of reader will be accepted. Please send donations to me unless your student has a specific book that he wants to give to a special friend or staff member. If so, please make sure to write a note with the person's name (and why they want to share the book with that person) and attach it to the book. I can help you make sure that the book gets to the right person if you need me to.

I would also like for you to take a picture of the child and book and email it to me so that I can upload it to Kid President's website (if they have photo permission of course!). you can also #BookItForward by giving a book to family, staff members, or friends. Take your pictures too!!

Check out Kid President's link below for his challenge to us!
