Caruso Connect - October 21
Caruso Middle School is an inclusive and vibrant community where Blue Jays take ownership of their social-emotional and academic growth by supporting, challenging, and celebrating self and others.
Good Evening Blue Jay Families:
In this week's Caruso Connect we hope you read on to check out our Friday Spirit Days. They were decided on by our Student Government and the poster below was designed by one of the members! Nice work STUGO!
Our annual in person Student-Led Conferences are coming up on November 21st and 22nd. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your student's CORE teachers and ENCORE teachers, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to dialogue with your student about their progress and goals for the year. More information to sign up for conferences will be sent in November.
Finally, please note that Skyward Access will close to all families on October 26th at 8:00 AM so teachers can update their grades for Q1.
We hope that you enjoy your weekend.

Ways to Give
Our Philanthropy Club has organized two different opportunities for Caruso to give!
The first organization that Caruso has teamed up with is CHANCE THE RAPPER’s nonprofit organization, Social Works! Items are given to Chicago families in need. There will be a large box in the front lobby of the school for people to bring in new/lightly used toys, coats, scarfs, new hygiene items, coats, gloves, blankets, and socks! Donations will run through December 4th. Please help fill the box.
The second organization is the Deerfield Food Pantry. Many families in Deerfield rely on the Deerfield Food Pantry. The Philanthropy Club is organizing a drive for the food pantry from October 17th-November 11th. Most needed items include cereal, pasta, nuts, and condiments. However, they do not want cans at this time. All items can be deposited in boxes around the school. Thank you so much for your support.

Caruso Halloween Guidelines
Caruso welcomes students to express their creative side and dress for Halloween while in school on Monday, October 31st. However, the following criteria are in place to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
Families should have full knowledge of what their child will wear for school on October 31st.
Students should not wear costumes that turn someone’s identity into a stereotype.
Students can only apply make-up, spray colored hairspray, or put on costumes at home.
Students will not be permitted to wear any type of mask or any other costume that will obstruct the learning environment at school.
School rules for dress will apply. Students should not wear anything that has a sexual connotation or would be considered inappropriate dress.
Students should respect political views and religious beliefs.
Costumes that promote graphic violence are not permitted.
Students should not use costume props of a violent nature, such as toy guns, toy knives, and/or toy swords, to name a few.
Please be mindful of the impact of group costumes. We want to promote the social-emotional well-being of all students. If your child is participating in a group costume, please remind them to consider others and not intentionally exclude anyone.
