Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
This has been a fun week of learning at Alcova. This will be a long weekend with the observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday for students and staff Monday, January 17th. I hope to see everyone back at school Tuesday, but in the event of any inclement weather, please refer to WSB-TV or Radio or the Gwinnett County School's website for any school related information.
Stay safe and warm and have a wonderful weekend!

Devices Will Be Sent Home Daily Beginning 1/7/22
Beginning Friday, January 7th, Alcova students who need a school-issued Chromebook for home use will take their Chromebook home each afternoon. The students will return it to school the next morning for use at school. This is like having a textbook or other learning material that a student brings back and forth to school each day. If your student does not need a device to use at home, they will not be bringing one home.
The goal of this instructional practice is to make sure all our students have a Chromebook at home or school when they need it for completing homework, working on school projects, completing assigned online readings, or accessing Zoom meetings with teachers (such as on synchronous Digital Learning Days).
This plan is part of a new county practice for all schools as we begin the second semester so that students will have equitable access to a device for studies and daily homework if needed. We believe it is important that all our students have access to a computer to support learning at school or at home.
If you have not read and signed the device agreement, please do so by clicking the blue Device Agreement Button below. Please complete and send the form to your student's teacher.

Girls on the Run is for EVERY Girl
Girls on the Run is so much more than running. Their tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. Girls on the Run understands the important connection between physical activity and overall emotional health. Trained volunteers guide girls through research-based lessons which creatively integrate movement in a fun and motivating way. By signing your girl up for Girls on the Run, you are giving her the opportunity to connect, grow and learn how to navigate difficult situations.
The spring season registration lottery is open through Tuesday, January 25.
Our team is meeting in-person this season. Our meeting days and times are: 2:45-4:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Our first practice will be Tuesday, February 15th. The program is for girls in 4th and 5th grade.
