LUNCH ORDERS
The October lunch order will be emailed today. This form also contains November 1st. Please be sure to check the "Important Dates". There are many field trips and other events that may impact your student’s lunch order. Lunch orders are now due the Wednesday prior to receiving lunch.
HIGH SCHOOL PARENTS - COLLEGE INFORMATION NIGHT/SR. PARENT MEETING - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH
This annual guidance event will be held at 6:30 PM in the Learning Commons. College Night is an opportunity for parents and students to learn about the college selection, admissions and financial aid process from a college professional. This year our presenter will be Nate Litman, admissions counselor for Messiah College for Franklin County.
At 7:45 PM there will be a meeting for parents of seniors to go over details of their upcoming mission trip to Costa Rica.
DRESS CODE REMINDER
Beginning October 1st, student may no longer wear shorts. Months that uniform shorts are permitted are August, September, May and June.
RACE FOR EDUCATION - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH!
Parents, grandparents and friends are encouraged to come to campus and cheer on our runners.
Shalom race times are:
9th-12th grade – 9:00-10:00 AM (1/4 mile track)
6th-8th grade – 10:30-11:30 AM (1/4 mile track)
PreK-Kindergarten – 12:30-1:30 PM (1/8 mile track)
1st-2nd grade – 1:45-2:45 PM (1/8 mile track)
3rd-5th grade – 1:45-2:45 PM (1/4 mile track)
RACE FOR EDUCATION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We need many volunteers for our September 28th event. Duties include: water table, snow cone table, card punchers. If you would like to help, please click on the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4fada82aa5fa7-race
Race Day Information:
Please have your student bring a water bottle with his/her name on it. We will provide water for refills.
Students who are absent that day will be able to run at a later date.
Reminder to elementary parents: If you are planning to take your student home at the conclusion of their race time, you will need to sign him/her out in the classroom. It is also helpful if you send a note or email to the appropriate teacher(s) that morning or the day before so that they are aware of your plans.
Student Race for Education Dress:
1. We encourage students to wear Shalom’s school colors (navy/white/gold) or any Shalom t-shirt. (This could be a gym shirt, a camp shirt, elementary soccer jersey, warm up shirt, YBA t-shirt, middle school small group shirt, etc.)
2. May wear pants such as *jeans, capri pants, knee-length shorts, Shalom gym shorts,or wind pants. No sandals.
Please note: Jeans* may not have holes or frays.
3. Students are not permitted to wear hats on this or any dress down day.
CLASS OF 2019 CHICKEN BBQ-SEPTEMBER 29TH!
Come and enjoy homecoming (see details below) and enjoy some delicious chicken! Chicken halves will also be available for purchase at our concession stand during the games. The cost is $6 per half.
HOMECOMING 2018 - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH! THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!!
Bring the whole family and catch the Shalom spirit!! It will be a day and evening full of food, activities and middle school and varsity volleyball and soccer games! There will be something for EVERYONE--popcorn bar, free giveaway for students and face painting!
Each Shalom student who attends can receive a FREE SCA navy blue cinch bag! Stop by the table in the main lobby between the hours of noon and 4. Those who pre-ordered homecoming t-shirts may also pick up their shirts during that time. Extra homecoming shirts will be available for $5. Face painting by Making Faces Face & Body Art will also take place in the main lobby from 1-4.

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY
This event for elementary students and their grandparents will be held on Friday, October 12th. Students in elementary grades will be bringing invitations home sometime next week. We will have a 1:00 dismissal for all students that day (this means that buses will leave Shalom shortly after 1:00 PM), and students may go home with their grandparents if they bring a note. Elementary students may leave at the conclusion of Grandparents' Day activities, but middle and high school students will not be dismissed until 1:00. Elementary parents are reminded to pack a lunch for their child and grandparents that day.
