Weekly Wildcat
August 26, 2022
Dear Wildcat Families,
It was so wonderful to have a full week with your wildcat(s)! Ms. Cabral, Teaching and Learning TOSA, and I enjoyed visiting all classes this week. Our wildcats started their first 20 days of Benchmark ELA routines and completed their iReady assessment in grades 1st-5th. We ended the week exploring PE and Theater in Xploration. I look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night!
Helpful Information:
- Back to School Night: Don't miss our upcoming Back to School Night! Join me in the MPR at 5pm to learn about our exciting programs and hear from our Foundation/PAC. Gates will open at 4:45pm to sign-up to be a volunteer at one of our exciting events this year. All teachers in preschool and 1st-5th will offer two sessions with the same content. You can choose to either attend session 1 at 5:25-5:55pm or session 2 from 6:00pm-6:30pm.
- Friday Flag & Coffee with Mrs. Katz: Join us for our first Friday Flag of the year. We will learn about our character trait of the month, sing our Sundance Wildcats song, and participate in minute to win it games! Following our Friday Flag, join Mrs. Katz in the library to learn about our Voyager and Global Languages Program!

Healthy Food Choices:
School Breakfast and Lunch are great ways to help kids eat healthy. Our school policy asks that families don’t send in food treats for birthdays. If you want to celebrate a birthday, please consider ways other than food - like donating a book or ball - for the classroom. Classroom parties will follow nutritional guidelines from the District.
Traffic Reminders: Thank you to everyone who has followed the drop-off/pick-up reminders.
- Avoid parking in assigned spots
- Please avoid watching your child enter the gate as you are driving through the parking lot
- Continue to use the passing lane to either pull into a parking spot or exit the lot; cars should not use this lane to enter the drop-off lane.
Have a nice weekend,
Mrs. Katz, Principal

Counselor's Corner
Dear Families,
I will be starting Friendship small groups in September for new students and those looking to make some new friends in their grade level. If you are interested, please email me at empark@powayusd.com with your child's name, grade, and teacher's name. I will send out more information once I get enough interest. Other grade-specific groups will include topics such as: emotional regulation, anxiety coping skills, social skills, self-confidence, and conflict resolution. I also offer individual counseling for those who may need more one-on-one support.
Counseling small groups typically run for a set number of weeks. I pull students for about 30 minutes during the school day and work with teachers to schedule the groups, so students don't miss out on core learning time. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out through email or by phone at 858-484-2950 ext. 3119.
I look forward to getting to know your child!
Warmly,
Ms. Park
