Concept Maps are a great way to organize knowledge in a visual way. They can be made by hand or made using software on a computer. Ideas or concepts are linked together to show their relationship to each other.
Some concept mapping resources include C-Map, Inspiration/Kidspiration, MindMeister, and Visual Thesaurus.

Web logs, or Blogs as we know them to be called, are websites that allow an author to create, edit, and publish the content they want. Blogs are a powerful tool because they focus on writing and also allow dialogue due to the ability to respond to posts. Reasons to use a blog include:
1. providing classroom experiences outside the classroom.
2. it appeals to different learning styles.
3. it can enhance the knowledge of the blogger on the subject they are tackling.
4. it can be a motivator due to outside readers and comments.

Tips for Successful Collaborative Writing
1. Structure activities at the beginning of project
2. Help the collaborators work out effective meeting or working procedures
3. Establish expectations for participation before the project begins
4. Pay attention to students who are more susceptible to marginalization, isolation or being left out
5. Have students use the collaborative writing software for a test run before doing a major project
