We hope everyone is staying healthy during these complicated times. For the foreseeable future, all PD offerings are now scheduled in Frontline Education. You must register to attend them.


We are continuing the Regional Collaboration Meetings with our coaches, and we have modified the NYSED Next Generation Learning Standards sessions to be presented online/virtually.


Our offerings include Regional Collaboration Special Education Check-Ins, Supporting All Students During Remote Learning, Regional Collaboration: Remote Learning, and Prioritizing Standards.

Monique Burr Foundation Presentation - Child and Teen Safety Matters

Description:


Child sexual abuse is a major public health crisis in this country requiring a comprehensive, preventive approach concerning the education of adults, children and communities.


Just recently, New York passed Erin’s Law and now schools across the state are tasked with implementing this very important education to students.


BOCES, Bivona and Monique Burr have teamed together and developed a comprehensive approach to comply with this new mandate and protecting children. Workshop participants will learn more about this approach, Erin’s Law objectives and the Monique Burr Foundation programs.

Supporting All Students During Remote Learning

Building Curricular Resources and Materials for Linguistically Diverse Learners in the Classroom (Grades K-3)

Description:


Taking the Next Generation Learning Standards to the next phase involves looking closely at curricular units and lessons to include resources and materials that offer diverse populations opportunities to engage more fully, to create deeper connection to learning. Using tools from Engage New York, and the State Education Department, as well as links to additional resources, teachers will review their curricula to add resources, activities and materials to promote achievement for all of their students, including those from different backgrounds and experiences.


This is a working session. Participants are asked to bring either their long range plans, units of instruction, and/or some lesson plans with them to actually make revisions to their instructional planning during this time.


This workshop will consist of two hours of asynchronous, independent learning and a one hour synchronous meeting via Zoom; The Zoom link and pre-workshop activities will be sent one week in advance.

Scaffolding for ELL’s in the Next Generation Math Classroom

Description:


How do we support our English language learners in our math lessons both online and face-to-face? Discover specific techniques to help our students succeed.


The first part will be asynchronous to allow you time to read through resources and gather information. Then on May 11, we will meet online to discuss, explore, and learn from each other.

  • To have a foundational understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how to think about using this framework to support core instruction (Gen Ed or instruction as a whole class)

Reading, Writing, and Social Studies, Oh My! PK-6

Get an overview of an authentic, integrated 5-day learning plan that includes reading, writing, social studies, and so much more. Learn how to integrate both the Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards and NYS K-12 Social Studies Framework into an interactive 5-day learning experience for PK-6 students. Participants will have an opportunity to explore possible standards and begin to create a 5-day plan.
