Weekly Family Newsletter
Burns Park Elementary

April 16, 2023
Dear Burns Park Families,
We want to start by acknowledging Arab American Heritage Month. An estimated 3.7 million Americans have Arab roots, and we are proud to say that not too far from Ann Arbor, the wonderful city of Dearborn, Michigan is home to the largest Arab American community in the United States. It is also home to the Arab American National Museum. We ask you to join us in celebrating the culture, histories and contributions of Arab Americans in our communities and our country.
As a reminder, we have an early release day this week, Thursday, April 20. Dismissal will be at 1:18pm. Please make sure students know their after school plans.
Please remember during the school day, families/students from other schools/community members should not be utilizing Burns Park for playground purposes. All visitors on school grounds MUST be checked in at the office.
As we head into warmer weather, it is important that your student has a water bottle each and every day. We are moving away from plastic cups in our building to help eliminate the environmental impact and trash accumulation in our school. We want students to stay healthy and hydrated during outdoor play.
Reminder: It is almost that time of year for the the Burns Park Run! The Burns Park Run is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th, 2023, starting at 8:30 AM and volunteers to support this wonderful event are still needed! We would love your help - if you are interested in volunteering, please check out the volunteer opportunities here. To sign up for the race, click here.
Thank you for your support!
Love and Peace,
Heather & Leslee

Many of the students will be using Walk & Talk to train for the upcoming Burns Park Run. It is an easy way for you as parents/grandparents/caregivers to get involved and support our students.
