March 8, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Northpoint Community!
Spring break is a day away, and I think students and staff alike are looking forward to the upcoming week. I hope families are able to enjoy some down time in the upcoming days, fingers crossed for sunshine and warmer weather! There’s no school Friday, March 10 through Monday, March 20. We welcome students back to school after the break on Tuesday, March 21.
When we return from spring break, we begin our final trimester of this school year. Report cards will be shared upon our return. Watch for more information on how to access report cards in our March 22 newsletter.
Our all-school field trip to the Science Museum is coming up April 12. Please don’t forget to submit your permission slip and fees to your child’s classroom teacher.
Have a great break. Carve out some time for your kiddos to enjoy a good book, and stay safe!
Best,
Judi Kahoun
Principal
Lost and Found
The Northpoint Lost and Found will be donated after Friday, March 24. Please stop in the Northpoint office if you would like to visit the Lost and Found to look for your student's items. All items will be checked for names before being donated.
Fourth graders take on the tapir
Lions, tigers and tapirs, oh my! The annual Minnesota Zoo Enrichment Design Competition challenges students to research and design a prototype that will help solve a current problem for zookeepers. This year, the chosen animal is likely unfamiliar to most – the “tapir” from Malaysia.
The fact that not many people know about the tapir is ultimately what set fourth graders in the gifted services program at Park Terrace, Centerview and Woodcrest Spanish Immersion on this design quest. Read the full story about the Woodcrest team that is moving forward in the competition and view photos of student designs.
