Principal's Update
We do our best to keep the classroom environment safe while trying to minimize the number of absences for students. With the spike in COVID cases, we ask parents to use good judgement when deciding to keep kids home if they present symptoms of illness. On a few occasions, families have learned of exposures and fortunately kept their child home, preventing the spread to others.
Quarantine Requirements
Just yesterday, the county dropped the quarantine requirements from 14 to 10 days. They strongly caution for anyone exposed to continue monitoring symptoms for 14 days just to be safe. Your discretion in this regard is appreciated.
AM Drop-Off for 2nd Graders
The side parking lot is less crowded than the front lot, so parents of 2nd graders are welcome to use the side lot for AM drop off. This will balance to traffic and make it easier for drivers. Our students have been doing a great job being safe as they walk to their line-up location, and with the snow finally over (hopefully) this will really help.
Chocolate Milk Shortage
This is not an April fools joke! Our supplier informed us there will be no chocolate milk until further notice, beginning Monday. Students are welcome to bring milk from home of course, but we ask that students not bring syrup to add to the white milk provided by the school.
Have a great weekend,
Jeff Eisele
Hilton Principal

Placement Consideration Forms
It is hard to believe that it is already time to begin the process of placing students with teachers for the 2021/22 school year. Although teacher styles may differ from teacher to teacher, the content of the curriculum remains the same within the grade level. A great deal of time and effort is given to grouping children into classes. Our primary concern is to establish productive, balanced classrooms where each child has the opportunity to be successful and is challenged to do their best.
If you feel you have compelling information to contribute to the placement decision, our Placement Consideration Forms are available in a Red labeled folder that can be found on the cabinet outside by the main office doors.
Please complete the form and submit it to the main office by Friday, May 7th, 2021.
This additional information will help assist us in the construction of balanced classrooms.
Please remember that requests for a specific teacher cannot be honored.

Counselor Corner!
Flowers are blooming and it is giving us all the summer feels! The sunshine has such a powerful effect on our spirit and energy. I hope you are finding time as a family to enjoy it all! This month in counseling we will focus on problem solving. This could look like reading through scenarios, and talking about possible avenues or solutions to problems. Practicing the use of sentence frames that give students a framework to pull from, and more. When we use effective problem solving, we acknowledge alternative perspectives, respect one another’s emotions, and overall have more successful relationships.
Lets Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed at school.
More Resources: The Elementary Counseling Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling (New Updates!) website for ideas and resources to be used at home!
