Stephen Douglas builds a railroad
The new president of the us wants to build a railroad from Chicago to the west coast to bluster trade and give transportation to people wanting to go to the west coast. However he cant because some of the areas he wants to go trough have not been classified as a slave state or a free state. So, he wants to solve this problem once and for all.
Popular Sovereignty
The Kansas and Nebraska territory's are said to used popular sovereignty. Popular Sovereignty was when the people would vote upon weather to be a slave state or a free state. However there was a problem people from already established zone crossed boarders and placed voted so that what they thought would be more likely to become passed.
John Brown and Bleeding Kansas
Bleeding Kansas, was a series of violent political confrontations in the United States involving anti-slavery and pro-slavery elements in between 1854 and 1861. With a leaders such as john brown who killed 5 anti slavery supports.
