Week 17 Focus: Three ways to connect the learning...
What's in it for me?
- Establish a culture of learning from the 'get go'
- Demonstrate that you mean business and have high expectations of the students
Judge it
Ask students to judge it (you can provide them with sentence stems if necessary to help them formulate a response)- you can use the whiteboards for this.
This piece of work ought to be used to stimulate discussion and focus on the objectives you may have worked with in previous lessons- based on this, ask students to set themselves targets for the forthcoming lesson.
Home Learning
An issue with Home Learning is the extra marking it creates- avoid this at times by asking students to complete a short task such as discovering or defining concepts, and how they might link to the topic of study. Make sure they have the work glued in their books for use throughout the lesson.
Sort It Out
Hopefully, concepts and skills should be embedded into schemes of learning and constantly referred to, so this should be a useful ongoing process of reflection for the students.
Based on this, be prepared to offer tasks or intervention to help students get to move forward.
