Dear LIS Families,
Throughout the month, we look forward to the students designing their "perfect school", parent teacher conferences, spring break, family math night and our 4th grade rising parent night. Please see more detailed information below.
As the warmer weather approaches, please be mindful of our Board Policy No. 5511 dress code that states:
- Students are forbidden from wearing clothes at any school function that makes reference (directly or indirectly) to gangs, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes or violence.
- Students are prohibited from wearing halter tops, tank tops, bandanas, clothing with spaghetti straps, clothing that bares the midriff, excessively short shorts or skirts, dangerously baggy pants and clothing that exposes underwear
- Students will refrain from wearing any clothing that displays profanity or sexual innuendos
- Students are prohibited from wearing headgear unless it is for medical or religious reasons.
- Students are not allowed to wear revealing, ripped or torn clothing.
- For safety purposes, students are not permitted to wear flip-flops
MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED SCREENING TRAILER: APRIL 8 6:30 pm
Please join us for a screening of Most Likely To Succeed (MLTS), a thought-provoking documentary feature film that reveals the growing shortcomings of conventional education methods in today’s innovative world.
We will host the screening Monday, April 8 in the Lawrence High School auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m. Babysitting is provided. Registration is open now. https://www.ltps.org//cms/module/selectsurvey/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=112
The documentary runs approximately 90 minutes. Afterward, the documentary’s producer Ted Dintersmith will join us via Skype for a discussion.
The film explores compelling new approaches that aim to revolutionize education as we know it, inspiring school communities to reimagine what students and teachers are capable of doing. To date, MLTS has screened for thousands of audiences around the world, igniting conversations and empowering change along the way.

Health Office News
If your child will be absent from school, please contact the school absence line by dialing 609-671-5530 prompt 5. With the warmer weather upon us please remember to send the proper outdoor wear for your children as we will go outside for recess each day. If your child borrows clothes from the health office, please wash and return them. Any questions? Please call the nurses office at 671-5533
Just a reminder that students must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication to be permitted to return to school.

Safety Reminders
Dismissal Procedures
If your child is going to have a different dismissal than normal, it is essential that you notify their classroom teacher with a written note on the morning of, signed by you. If you decide they need to have a different dismissal during the school day, you must call the main office by 3 pm and notify the secretary. Please Call 609-671-5531 With the warmer weather approaching, please make sure your child reports directly home after school, unless you have notified the school of a dismissal change. If they are dismissing to a different location than home, please notify the main office prior to 3 pm with a written note. No student will be permitted to call home to ask permission for a change to their dismissal.
