World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day is officially on Sunday, November 13th but we will celebrate this with our students on November 14th. On this day, we will work together to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and pledging acts of kindness, either as individuals, class or school.
Just as we did last year, each student and staff member will be given a strip of construction paper to write or draw a picture to show or tell how they pledge to provide kindness. The strips will be connected to create one large chain as a way to represent how our school will unit to be kind. The chain will be hung down the hallways of the school.
Young Eagles Program During Half Days
The Young Eagles Program (YEP) will provide their childcare service in the morning as well as in the afternoon following the dismissal time of our half-day schedule (11/17, 11/18, 11/21, 11/22, 11/23).
YEP will close at their regularly scheduled time of 6:30 pm for all half days except for November 23rd. YEP will close at 5:30 pm on November 23rd.
Oakview T-Shirts For Sale
We will be selling Oakview t-shirts during our parent-teacher conferences on November 17th - 22nd. Proceeds go to support our Oakview student activities. T-shirts are $15.00 each and payment can be in the form of cash.
TURKEY GRAMS
When you attend your child's parent-teacher conference, please stop by the table in the front vestibule to consider purchasing a Turkey Gram to be delivered to your child's classroom the week before Thanksgiving. A Turkey Gram costs $1.00 each and the proceeds go to support our student activities account.
LOST AND FOUND
During in-person parent-teacher conferences, a table of lost and found items will be arranged in the front vestibule of the school. Please visit this table to see if any items your child may be missing are there.
Operation Blessing
Operation Blessing is a district wide event that has helped West Deptford families in need to celebrate the holidays for years. Oakview Elementary works closely with the other WD district schools and the High School’s National Honor Society to bring holiday cheer to our local families. Oakview is reaching out to our community for help - please review the following attachment to learn ways in which your family may spread some holiday cheer this year.
Pajama Day For CHOP
On Friday, December 2nd, Oakview Elementary School will participate in Pajama Day to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). On this day, we invite all students to wear their favorite pajamas and bring in an optional donation to help raise money for the children and families cared for at CHOP. If you would like to make a donation by check, please make it payable to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and put “Pajama Day” on the memo line. Cash or checks will be collected by the classroom teachers from November 28th-December 2nd. We are also accepting donations online at Click Here.
Giving back and creating a sense of community are important experiences that we want to provide our students with at Oakview Elementary School. We thank you in advance for helping us make this effort a success! Every dollar makes a difference in the life of a child at CHOP. Please know that ALL students are invited to wear pajamas even if a donation is not provided.
