Dear Parent:

WCPSS Child Nutrition Services wants you to know that you can now apply online to qualify for free and reduced price school meals.

Go online to https://www.wcpss.net/meals to determine if you qualify and complete the online application. To help you, we've shared application information, frequently asked questions and the online application.

We encourage parents to choose healthy and delicious schools meals for their child.

Arrival and Dismissal

Here are a few reminders as we've settled into the 2018-2019 school year!

  • Students must be present until 12:35 to be counted present for the school day. If they are checked out prior to that time they are counted absent.
  • If students need to be checked out in the afternoon we ask that they be signed out by 3:30. We want to ensure that our office staff is able to focus on ensuring that all students get home safely. If you are not able to sign your student out by that time we ask that they dismiss as they normally do via carpool, bus or as a walker.
  • Walkers: For those students that live in the walk zone, we do ask that those students dismiss as walkers and walk home. Please do not park on School Days Lane, in the bus loop etc. and drive those students home.

Thank you for your help in these areas! We appreciate all you do to get your students to and from school safely.

Good start

As our young ones adjust to school, we appreciate your help in making sure that they get a good night's rest and eating a well balanced breakfast. Our Kindergarten students have done an amazing job of transitioning in and all of our students have helped to make it an awesome start to the 2018-2019 school year!

Volunteering

We love volunteers at HSES! In order to volunteer, you must complete the volunteer application each year. We have computers set up at the school that you can utilize to register and registration must be completed at the school. Just stop by the front office and they will direct you to the computers we have set up for this. For more information on volunteering, you can visit the WCPSS Site found HERE.

Class PTA Reps needed!

We would like to have a parent rep from each classroom to act as a liaison between the PTA Board and parents. This rep would collect email addresses and contact consent from parents in your class and use that information to send updates, volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, etc. Since everything can be done from home, this position is a perfect opportunity for a working parent or a parent with young children at home who wants to help, but can’t come in to school during the day. Let your teacher know you want to volunteer to be your classroom PTA Rep!

PAWS

Rent or renew one or more 19" print with your family or child's name painted on it. One Paw $50, each additional Paw $35 or renew your current paw(s)-one Paw Renewal $40, each additional $25. All of the money raised goes directly to our HSES PTA. Advertise your business with a paw for $100. Rent your "paw" until the end of the school year and you will have the opportunity to rent it again next year. Forms will be coming home with your children soon!
