AE Data Day - March 3, 2020
Tuesday is our second MTSS Data Day of the year. As a team, we will be reviewing data and determining appropriate interventions and supports for students in cycle #3. Remember as part of our MTSS Framework here in Northville, NWEA is used as the initial screener for academics. We know that it is best practice to use more than one point of data and classroom teacher input is integral to this process. The bulk of our time will be used discussing students who have more than one qualifier. Additional data to review includes AIMS, BAS, and Bridges. We will review SRSS data when determining SEL/Behavioral supports. Thanks to everyone who has completed the SRSS for this cycle and uploaded BAS data to Illuminate.
Please review the emails that Elizabeth sent out this week to find the agenda for the day as well as the sub schedule. Data day is happening on Tuesday, March 3rd. If you have any questions just ask. We look forward to working as a team to ensure that all our students are getting the level of support and instruction they need to be successful.
MATHEMATICAL DISCOURSE
The importance of engaging students in meaningful mathematical discussion has long been identified as an essential component of students’ mathematics learning. When students share and exchange their ideas, both they and their teachers benefit. Read more about the importance of Mathematical discourse and how to put it into action in your classroom below!

Differentiated Instruction Strategies
As we continue our examination of differentiation, it is time to share some instructional strategies that may help you in preparing for the individual learning styles of your students and find ways to be responsive to their needs. These strategies can lead to higher engagement and authentic learning experiences.
Here is a user friendly infographic of strategies originally shared in Marcus Guido’s article “20 Differentiated Instruction Strategies and Examples”.
Which ones do you already use? Which one could you see yourself trying this year? Which one might you plan to use next year? What other strategies could you add to the list?

- Over 90% of the calories you burn are used to maintain your body temperature. A good way to lose weight is, therefore, to expose your body to the cold.
