High School Weekly Update

Principal Thoughts

The most frequent word I've heard this week is thankful, which is why I love this time of year. There's no denying the school year can be very stressful and overwhelming at times, so I think it's always good to take pause and think about the things we are thankful for in our lives. On Tuesday of this week, some of our seniors and their parents had a Thank-a-thon to express how appreciative they are for the many things their teachers have done for them during their time as students at Gray Stone. I know that I am certainly thankful for the many teachers who played a role in shaping who I am today, and I imagine that all of us have at least one teacher who made a difference in our lives. There's no doubt that teaching can be incredibly difficult at times with many hours of work outside of the defined hours of the school day; however, it is a truly rewarding profession that can enrich lives in so many ways. Thus, this Thanksgiving season, one of the things I am definitely thankful for are the many teachers who continue the work of guiding the next generation of our society's leaders. I can't imagine where we'd be without them.

Knight of the Week

This week's Knight of the Week is Andy McLeod. One of Andy's teachers wrote,

"Andy is always active in class and is always willing to help out those around him with questions. He is an excellent student and always works hard in and out of the classroom."

Great job, Andy!

Afternoon Pick-up Reminders

As you are waiting in the car line to pick up your child, we ask that you be mindful of the distance between you and the car in front of you. Please do not leave too much space between cars as this pushes the line further back and makes it harder for cars trying to get to the middle school line. We also ask that you make contact with your child when you are close to the pick up point and that they are waiting outside on the sidewalk, weather permitting, when you pull around to help speed up dismissal. Please pull all the way up if you are the first car in line so that we can fit as many cars in as possible. Lastly, if you are having trouble making contact with your child, please park in the back parking lot and check in at the Main Office so that we can assist you. Thank you for your cooperation.
