Immigration (political)

Political machines formed a sort of system in which they would provide the new immigrants with jobs places to live and simple necessities. These helped the immigrants that came over with nothing to start a life in the Americas. But in return they expected that they would vote for them so they could keep their stronghold on the government of the area. I am both ashamed and proud because they are helping people but expecting something in return.

These houses or more like apartment buildings had very small rooms sometimes only one room and most did not have toiletries in the room but a public bathroom, they were very unsanitary living areas.I am ashamed of how the new immigrants were forced to live until they could make some of theIr own money.
