Message From The Principal
I hope everyone is continuing to stay healthy and safe!
Please make sure you read my messages I sent yesterday. One contained information about the Hybrid schedule update and the other contained important information for our Geometry families.
Let’s take a look at our Outstanding Tigers of the Week!!
Student(s)
Jennifer Dudut nominated Joshua Vazquez.
"Josh has made the best of remote learning and is always actively engaged and participating. Each and every day, I can always count on Josh to have his camera on and ready to go with a smile. He strives for excellence through his efforts displayed in class, as well as the dedication and time he puts into his classwork. Every week I look forward to seeing Josh's new addition to the city he has created out of popsicle sticks. His creativity and attention to details is amazing.
Josh, thank you for always having a smile and being actively engaged in class discussions!"
Mary Engfer nominated Jake Voelker.
"Jake is an amazing student who is in my 7/8 ELA block. He consistently shows that he is paying attention and actively participates in every activity we do. He has strong ideas and always displays his "can-do" attitude. I have enjoyed having Jake in my class this year! He has a very bright future ahead of him! Way to go, Jake. Keep up the great work!!"
Mike Bajusz and Kristin Harper nominated Shannon Mercado and Sebastian Mercado.
"Thank you to the Mercados. Shannon and Sebastian show great attitude and effort every day in math class. Their cameras are always on, and they are both always actively involved and participating. They are truly making the most that they can out of remote learning."

Student Council
A word of encouragement from our Student Council Officers, Amaya, Amylah, and Sydney:
Very good job 6th and 7th grade on doing the STAR testing. I know that there could have been some bumps in the road but we got through it together.
We wish you all the best on the star testing next week make us proud and show us how it is done.make sure to get a good night sleep and eat a good breakfast in the morning. To have a good energy try not to lay down or be in a room with distractions. You can do this, Tigers!

Student Services
ATTENTION 6th graders! For the next two Fridays before break (12/11 and 12/18), the counselors will run a "fun lunch" group for 6th graders during each lunch period! This will be a fun, relaxed way to interact with other 6th graders in your lunch period and play some games before we head into winter break. The only rules are that you need to be willing to have your camera on, talk on your mic, and treat everyone with respect. Pretty simple. :)
Each counselor will have their own group each lunch period based on your last name, which is how the counselors divide their caseload. Last names A-L go with Ms. Shaw, and last names M-Z go with Mrs. Gilbert. All 6th graders will receive a Google Classroom invite the week of December 7 for their appropriate lunchtime group and counselor, so make sure you check your email, students!! Can't wait to see all of you.

Get to Know ... Danielle Schikora
I am Mrs. Schikora and this is my 6th year at Thompson! I teach 7th and 8th grade math. I attended Eastern Illinois University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Middle Level Endorsement. I have taught math and science throughout my 10 year teaching career. My husband and I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son that keep us on our toes! I truly enjoy teaching and helping Thompson become a great place to be! I help with the Care Closet, our staff Sunshine Club, NJHS and am a part of our Building Leadership Team. I hope to have an amazing year with my students!
Get to Know ... Amy Shaw
Hello, Tiger Families! I'm Amy Shaw, one of the counselors here at Thompson. Typically, my caseload is all the students with last names A-L. I have been at Thompson since 2008, and before that was a high school counselor at schools in Chicago and Portland, OR. When I first started junior high I wasn't sure if it was going to be a good fit, but now I've found that I really love working with this age range of students and their families. Of course, I would never want to go back and be 12 or 13 again myself!! :) I've now watched both of my own children go through junior high (they are in 9th and 10th grades this year) and I think it's helped professionally to have lived that experience. I truly want students to know that I am a person on their side at school and that they can come talk about anything with me. I really enjoy getting to know students and interacting with them on a formal and informal level. I miss being at school and walking the hallways, popping into classes and the lunchroom just to chat with kids. Hopefully we'll be back to that pretty soon.
I live with my family in Naperville and we love spending time with the two cuddle bugs you see in the picture - Daisy and Charlie.

Oswego Public Library Cards
Getting access to these resources is EASY! Just fill out the attached Google Form. After you complete it, Ms. Buan will contact you with access instructions and the library card number. IT’S THAT EASY! :) The library card number will be active as soon as you receive it, and will expire on June 1, 2021. Please be sure to complete the form for every child in your household who attends Thompson, so that we may give each child her/his own library card number. Information on obtaining cards for elementary and high school students will come from the elementary and high school librarians. In addition to immediate access to the digital library, students will also have the option to visit either campus of the library to get “physical” access to books, movies, video games, etc. Information on how to access these resources will be sent to you along with the library card number.
