2016 ALUMNI AWARDS
Nominations are requested at this time for the 2016 Alumni Awards. Please ask the person you want to nominate first, then get their biographical information. The nomination write up should stress the qualifications/actions that would strongly qualify them for a particular award. Please contact the Dallas Chapter (htdallasalumni@gmail.com) if you will help by formally nominating yourself or someone else.
The Seven Awards Are…
* Academic Achievement – Alumnus who has excelled in the academic arena or made a significant impact in education
* Alumni Service –Alum who has made significant service contributions to the Chapter and or Huston-Tillotson University.
* Chapter of the Year – Indicate why your Chapter should receive this award. Highlight events, programs of your Chapter, which you feel are outstanding and have affected your community and Huston-Tillotson University.
* Outstanding Alumnus- Alumnus who has worked diligently and has made an impact on the local chapter. His or her attribute should exceed that of the average Chapter member.
* Young Alum – Alumnus who is not over 32 years of age and has been or is active in a local chapter. She/he has worked to promote Huston-Tillotson University and to contribute to the success of the chapter and or Huston- Tillotson University.
* Practical Endeavor- Alumnus who has successfully ventured into a career other than that reflected by their major.
* Non-Alumnus – Golden Leaf – Awarded to a non-alumnus individual or organization who provided assistance to an Alumni Chapter, National Alumni Association, or the University in recruitment, financial support or community service

Berna Dean Steptoe, selected by the Miracles for Heroes organization to serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for their Concert at the Dallas House of Blues on Thursday, Jan 28, 2016. Berna Dean did an excellent job using her quick wit and improvisational skills to make it work!

Dr. Donnie Breedlove and Mrs. Millie Ferguson were recognized by Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for being the longest continuously serving Sorors on their Annual Founder’s Day Program Committee. WELL DONE, LADIES! We are PROUD of you!
