CD Bulletin
Dear Country Dale Families,
As you know, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled to strike down the Safer At Home Order on Wednesday. However, all public and private schools will remain closed through June 30th. Franklin Public Schools will continue to provide virtual learning through June 9th. Please keep in mind that we will not be holding any in-person summer school courses either. However, we are considering offering families a virtual summer school program so please keep an eye out for this information soon.
If you are thinking about ways that you might maintain some type of school structure this summer, I’d like to provide you with ways to support young readers at home:
Scheduling time for reading everyday which may include reading to your child and with your child
When reading...ask questions and wonder together
Present yourself as a reader and talk about the books and literature that you’re interested in
Provide kids with books they are interested and excited about
Here are some additional tips when you are reading with your child:
Celebrate easy reading
Ask your child to retell often...telling the BIG parts not each small detail
Allow your child some productive struggle time with words...when they have tried a few strategies
try prompting with “Could it be ——-?” Then they can check to make sure that makes sense, sounds right and looks right!
Finally, please watch for an additional communication from me this week regarding picking up materials from Country Dale in June.
Have a great week!

ES3 PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The ES3 team would like to share a new feature with you called Happy Home. Each week we will pass along some tips to help keep your home as happy and healthy as possible during Safer at Home. ES3 is a three-year state-funded grant program with the mission of improving outcomes for students who require social and emotional support. We can ALL use social and emotional supports, especially now, so we hope you enjoy!
Videos for Breathing and Mindfulness
Our video tips this week can be used prior to starting learning, or periodically to help children create calm when needed.
Practicing mindful moments, breathing and meditation has been shown to strengthen our ability to reduce stress. That is good for everyone in the family ~we invite you to enjoy these activities alongside your child.

ATTENTION 5TH GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS
If your child has not already received the Tdap vaccine, work with your pediatrician or primary care provider to schedule the vaccine. Many local pediatricians and family care providers will be restarting (if they haven’t already) well child appointments and will be completing necessary immunizations. Record the date of the immunization in the appropriate box on the student immunization record link below and sign the form. The state of Wisconsin allows for waivers for immunization due to health, religious, or personal conviction reasons. To do so, follow the instructions on the student immunization record and sign the form. All signed forms can be emailed, faxed or dropped off at school (when our school buildings reopen).
If you have any questions, please contact Lori O’Neil, District Nurse at lori.oneil@franklin.k12.wi.us
Please click here for the immunization fact sheet.
