Fall Falcon Festival & Math Curriculum Night
Reading Counts Kicks Off This Six Weeks
We have so many community members coming together to help support our campus
Wildly Important Goal of achieving a minimum of one year's growth in reading. Parents,
grandparents, Navo MS Student Council members, and the Aubrey Fire Fighters are ready to read to our Falcons or to listen to them read. Please be thinking of ways you can utilize these volunteers to promote a culture of literacy. Sometimes families need our help by providing extra support for reading homework at school.
Our team leaders met last week and developed the following plan for Reading Counts this year. Each grade level will use a BINGO card that is grade level appropriate to allow students to respond to their reading. Our goal is to provide a platform for students to share what good books they are reading with our school community. Once their Bingo card is filled, it will be displayed with a picture of them along with a recommendation to read the book they completed. Once Bingo cards are completed, please take time to allow your students to read these book reviews on our Reading Counts bulletin boards in our main hallway.
· Each square is worth 5 points.
· The goal is blackout.
· Once a child fills up his/her BINGO card, they get their picture taken with the book/books they chose. The pictures will be posted in the hallway bulletin board.
· The points will be accumulated for the store twice a year.
Kid President SockTober
Check out this inspirational video clip by Kid President. Do your students have a project they want to do to help our community? Boosterthon is wanting to highlight kids who are leading out in making a difference in their communities. Please let me know how we can support any of our students who want to do something small that will have a huge impact!

A big shout out to our dynamic special areas team and fifth grade teachers! They have been accepting applications from our fifth graders for lunch bunch clubs and have had to make many difficult decisions. Our kids are so excited about these opportunities, and we are thankful they are getting to connect to our school and community. Next time you're in Denton, check out the mural Ms. McLarty's Art Club painted at the GDAC.
Be looking for more information regarding ways we plan to extend our club opportunities to our younger Falcons. Ms. Mills is working on getting donations of checkers and chess for some of our parents and grandparents to begin teaching kids the value of being a strategic thinker. Another parent volunteer is bringing Destination Imagination to our 2nd and 3rd graders. Mr. and Mrs. Bigley have started working with our 4th grade Ambassadors and our 3rd grade Public Relations Crew will begin doing our morning announcements next week! Our Student Council is beginning the recycling program as well as a spirit squad. There are so many positive blessings occurring for our students to be engaged and inspired passionate learners! Thanks to everyone for leading out in these efforts.
