Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Hart Families,
We have had a fantastic week at Hart. Students and teachers are working hard in their classes to grow their brain and hearts. We look forward to hosting the Daddy Daughter dance tonight from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Next week, our 4th graders will have their Texas Music program that is always a big hit, and then we close the week with our Reading Across America Read in and Author Visit. Your child's teacher will be sending more information next week. Since we are having the Author Visit on Friday, March 3rd, we have moved Hart Beat to Friday, March 17th. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we had to work around our Author's flight schedule.
I hope that you have a great weekend. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out at anytime.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:

Use of SORA
Dear Parents,
Lovejoy ISD currently offers students access to digital library books through SORA. The District has the ability to curate the collection of books accessible to students through the SORA platform. However, publishers at times have included external links with the digital books, similar to what is found in some hardcopy books. These external links are not maintained by the District and are not a material within the control of the District. The District neither selects the external links nor endorses the specific links. The District believes the online SORA platform is a beneficial program and will continue to allow students whose parents agree to utilize the resources.
In the spirit of transparency, the District is notifying parents of their right to opt out of the use of the SORA platform for their children. If you elect to not have your child access digital books through SORA, please contact your campus librarian.
As a reminder, parents may access a list of digital books their children have checked out by following the steps noted below.

We are very excited to read his books and learn what it is like to write, illustrate, and publish original stories. If you have purchased any of Mr. O’Malley’s books, please send them into the library any day next week. He will sign them on the day of his visit! It is so cool to have a signed copy of an author’s book!

Safety Moment with Marshal Smith
Hello, Hart Families. We conduct Fire Drills every month to insure the safety of our kids and to create mind muscle memory that will help prevent panic during an actual event. February's drill was last week. During the drill the students and teachers were faced with an obstacle at one of the exits resembling the fire being in that area and had to redirect to another exit. Everyone still exited the building in great time at 75 seconds. All students and staff were accounted for and cleared of the building in less than three minutes. These times show a great sense of urgency and awareness. Our practice drills are showing great improvement, and we are very proud of our students and staff for keeping safety at the forefront.
