Physical environment

Florence is a located in a small basin in Italy and it is the capital of the Tuscany region. Located about 230 km North west of Rome, Florence is surrounded by gently rolling hills covered by villas, farms, vineyards, and orchards. The city was found to control the north south crossing Arno river to and from the three passages through the Apennines. The city's water supply has also served as an asset. There are many beautiful buildings in Florence and a few have become very popular tourist spots. Some of theses include :

the Galleria degli Uffizi, the Palazzo Pitti, and the Piazza della Signoria

The climate of Florence is changeable which means that it could be sunny at one moment and raining another. Summers are extremely hot and humid, winters are cool and wet and are usually short-lived. Winters in Florence usually end in mid-march and bring rain. April brings unpleasantly cold showers but the most delightful season is in late spring.
