HELP WE NEED SOMEBODIES!!!
If today is any indication, I think God has great weather scheduled for our fair this weekend.
Thank you to all our wonderful parents who have already worked and/or signed up to work the fair.
BUT ....
we still need help. Maybe you are waiting till the last minute to see what is needed before signing up ... OR maybe your children are playing in the big soccer tournament this weekend and you don't know what times they are playing. If either is the case, please sign up now if you can . If you can't right now, please text me even if you only have just a little time to give and I will let you know if we need you in any location. I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize because I am tired of getting random robot calls. Here is my cell number: (985) 290-2743. Please make sure you tell me who you are in the text. I do not have everyone's phone number in my contact list. I will respond quickly and let you know where we need you.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
HURRICAN MICHAEL DISASTER RELIEF EFFORT
Dear SMM Parents,
"We, though many, are one body in Christ." - Romans 12:5
In August we chose the above Bible verse as our inspiration and motivation for all we would do at SMM during the current school year. Little did we know that we would once again have to put our faith and convictions into action.
As you know, Hurricane Michael had a devastating impact on the people living in the Florida panhandle. Our hearts broke when we saw pictures of the aftermath of the hurricane. It brought back painful memories. But what do we do as the Christ-centered family that we are? We take care of our brothers and sisters in need.
The SMM Men's Club and our school community are coordinating a relief effort to help the people of Florida. A caravan of workers will leave on Friday, October 26 and return on Sunday, October 28. They will bring much needed
supplies, and will cook and provide meals.
So, how can you help? Beginning next Tuesday, October 23rd, we will collect needed items in the morning car line. We are asking our SMM families to donate the following: buckets, bleach, rubber gloves, and other household cleaning supplies, as well as #10 cans of green beans, corn, and tomato sauce.
We ask that you be generous in your support of our relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Michael. But for the grace of God (and a strong Northwest steering current), we could be in their shoes once again.
We thank you in advance for your generosity.
God bless our SMM families and friends,
- SMM Administration
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. WEEK
Dear Parents,
Next week, SMM Student Council is hosting R.E.S.P.E.C.T Week.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T stands for:
Realize You’re Special
Everyone is Important
Stay Positive
Peer Pressure is Wrong
Everyone is Equal
Care for Each Other
Talk Kindly
Each day, Tuesday through Thursday, a different theme will be presented in line with the idea of respect (to self and others):
Tuesday - Positive Self Image
Wednesday - Dealing with Bullying
Thursday - Resisting Peer Pressure
In line with these themes, students will have the opportunity to wear special clothes each day to represent those themes:
Tuesday is “Bee Your Bee-autiful self” day: Students can wear yellow and/or black shirts, tennis shoes, socks, wigs, and/or hair bows.
Wednesday is “Team Up Against Bullying” Day: Students can wear any favorite team-player jersey or school sports jersey.
Thursday is “REaDy to Resist Peer Pressure” Day - Students can wear a red shirt and/or hair bow.
Along with these, students must wear appropriate free dress bottoms and tennis shoes. Please review the free dress guidelines in the SMM School Handbook which can be found under Resource Documents on your Parent RenWeb Page.
Also, on Tuesday, students will be given a bracelet with RESPECT on it, as well as our school scripture: “We Are All One Body in Christ”. They can wear that throughout the year.
Finally, on Friday, students in grades 5th-7th will attend an interactive presentation provided by the Mt. Carmel MCCADD (anti-drug) Club. They will provide information on all the different themes, as well as the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Please note that if you do not wish your child to attend, you can opt them out, and we will find an alternate activity for them. Simply let me know ahead of time.
God bless to all and have a great fair weekend!
In Christ,
Scott Osborn, M.Ed.
