December 18th: 4th graders are to bring in regular size peppermint candy canes by December 14th.

If you would like to volunteer to help with the stations, please return the green volunteer form that was brought home on Friday. All volunteers will need to have the DCS background check and criminal history check completed in order to volunteer.

12 Days of Christmas FUN

Class Christmas Party

If you have not done so already, please return the form for donations of snacks and supplies for our class party on Friday, Dec. 18th! Thanks!

Spirit of Giving Donations

Just a reminder that we will not be doing a gift exchange in class. We are encouraging our students to give gifts of kindness and generosity to help our own JES students by purchasing one of the items listed below:

  • Boys shirt size 14-16
  • Boys shirts size 10-12
  • Girls shirt size 12/14
  • Boys socks
  • Girls socks
  • Boys athletic pants (size M & L) and jeans (size 10/12 & 14/16)
  • Girls athletic pants (size L) and jeans (size 12)

Each of these items can be purchased for around $5.00, which would be the suggested cost for a gift exchange purchase. Thanks!

Boys' Basketball Practice

There will be NO practice for the next two Wednesdays!

Attendance

We have not met our 100% attendance goal the past few weeks! Let's see if we can get back on track next week and have 100% attendance every day!

Upcoming Events

December 9: Drama presentation, 4:30 PM

December 15 & 16: Santa Shop

December 18: Christmas Activity stations and class party

December 21-Jan 4: Christmas Break [Students will return to school on Tuesday!]

Science

We will begin our study of Science Chapter 6, Electricity. We will be doing a packet page daily with a quiz on the following Tuesday. Students will keep the packet in their homework folder throughout the week so they can review it daily to prepare for the quiz. It will be essential that students study for the quiz. The quiz is not easy!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

We will be reading the book by Barbara Robinson for the next two weeks. Our spelling and vocabulary words will be from the book. Spelling and Vocabulary are the same words, so students need to know how to spell the words as well as the definitions.

Spelling List

List #1 for this week, taken from the book, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"

Reading Vocabulary

Same words as the spelling list #1 from the book "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"

AR Goals

Students should be at 88% of their AR goal by this Friday, December 11th. The 2nd Quarter ends on Friday, Dec. 18th, therefore, we need to step it up on our AR goals. Please make sure your student is reading every night! The deadline for the AR grade will be December 18th. I will extend qualification for the AR party until Tuesday, Jan. 5th.

Progress on goals can be checked by logging in to Ren Place Home Connect for the school website or by having your student pull up the last quiz taken from their AR bookshelf and look at the tops report.https://hosted274.renlearn.com/122338/HomeConnect/

Walk-A-Thon

The JES Student Council Walk-a-Thon to benefit We Care of Scott County was a huge success!

New Printed ID's and Volunteer Procedures

It is extremely important that anyone who plans to attend a school field trip or visit the classroom return the CPS History form ASAP. The new ID program, Raptor, requires this form to be on file and in the security system. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
