Klein Oak Theatre Honors Memory of 9/11

Klein Oak Theatre and Klein Oak JROTC partnered to place flags outside Klein Oak High School in remembrance of 9/11. Klein Oak Criminal Justice also joined in this year! There is a flag to represent each victim of the September 11, 2001 attacks. This is a wonderful collaboration opportunity for our kids and a chance to honor history. Thank you, Klein Oak Theatre and Klein Oak JROTC for continuing this tradition in remembrance of 9/11!

National Arts In Education Week

Passed by Congress in 2010, House Resolution 275 designates the week beginning with the second Sunday in September as National Arts in Education Week. During this week, the field of arts education joins together in communities across the country to tell the story of the impact of the transformative power of the arts in education.

Here is how you can join this year's campaign! Share your story in the social media campaign, #BecauseOfArtsEd, to bring national visibility to the issue of arts education. See below for more information and download the Social Media How To Guide.

Bridging the Gap Between Departments

Ulrich Intermediate Theatre Students were able to enjoy a performance of Absolutely Murder presented by the Klein Cain Theatre Department. A huge shout out to Mr. Adam Henjum and Mr. Mark Rojas. They did an outstanding job of coordinating almost 50 Ulrich students who were able to attend the show! Klein Cain offered a special of pizza and the show to all of the middle schools in the district at a discounted price. We did this to encourage love and exposure to the arts. The students from Ulrich were well behaved and a delight to have in the audience. Way to go, Mr. Henjum and Mr. Rojas for teaching the proper audience etiquette and fostering a love of theatre. We look forward to seeing this collaboration happen across the district!

Klein High and Klein Forest Home Football Games!

Congratulations to Klein High School and Klein Forest High School Band, Color Guard and Dance on their first home games! It was also fantastic seeing the Intermediate directors in the stands, supporting their former students. You could feel the pride and energy both in the stands and on the field! The hours that these individuals put into this work is second to none. We’ve got some incredibly talented and passionate students and extremely dedicated directors in Klein ISD. We appreciate YOU!

Klein Oak Strutter's Food Drive

The Klein Oak Strutters along with Director Shelby Polansky and Assistant Director Tori Buschow are helping the Northwest Assistance Ministries by hosting a Food Drive. If you would like to help the Strutters, you may drop off the listed food items to the Strutter Studio (room 4000) at Klein Oak High School or bring your donations to the Fine Arts Department at the Student Service Center (16710 Kleinwood). Donations are being accepted until September 20th. Please see the flyer for more information. Way to go, Maddigan Hodge, Klein Oak Strutter Senior, for organizing this great way to give back!

Elementary Music Memory Program

Great things are always being taught in the elementary music classroom. One of the resources that our elementary teachers use is the music memory program. Each class is exposed to music from a variety of musical eras and styles. Both orchestral and vocal music is highlighted in this program. Students are learning about style, form, composers, instruments, and music history through music memory. Exciting and interactive resources are sent to our teachers from Mighty Music. Once our teachers get resources and materials, they meet in the summer to customize, supplement, and organize the lessons for everyone in the district to share. Our teachers even collaborate on creating assessments that are shared across the district. The students are getting a cross-curricular education every day in music class.

We are so proud of all the hard work these students have put in to learning these difficult etudes and look forward to seeing how they do at the auditions. Thank you Kleb Students and Directors, Dawn Herron and Kenneth Waldrop for hosting this wonderful event for our students!

Photography Field Trip

The students in Photography 2 were so excited to be able to go out into the halls and start taking pictures. They have been working so hard on beginning to edit and grasp all the concepts of photography. They were putting those vocabulary words and skills to the test as they were taking these photos. They absolutely loved taking all the different angles and utilizing their knowledge. Their photographs came out so well! Mrs. Hill's students took over 1000 photos between the 36 of them. We are so proud of them!

Congratulations, Mrs. Kaylee Hill!
