Dallas County set to launch mega COVID-19 vaccination site
Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) is working to provide COVID-19 vaccinations at the Fair Park facility beginning Monday, Jan. 11. County Judge Clay Jenkins said that he expected the State to provide the County with 2,000 vaccinations per day.
In addition to the Fair Park site, Parkland Health and Hospital System is working to provide vaccines at its campus in the city's medical district and at the two COVID-19 testing facilities - Ellis Davis Field House and Dallas College's Eastfield Campus.
All four vaccinations will be by appointment only. Click here to register for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Due to the limited supply of vaccines, a tiered system has been put into place by Federal and State governments that prioritizes healthcare workers and long-term care facility residents - Phase 1A. Also eligible to receive the vaccine at this time are those in Phase 1B - Persons older than 65 and those who have underlying medical conditions such as heart conditions, cancer, and diabetes.
As more vaccinations become available, additional groupings will be added until everyone is covered. Dallas County is currently distributing the Moderna vaccine, which is only available to individuals 18 and older.
Additional information will be distributed as it is received.
