Congratulations Graduates!

This week Lake Oswego and Lakeridge High Schools hosted graduation ceremonies in their stadiums, a new tradition for our graduates, teachers, staff and families. The events were a celebration of resilience and grace for a class that has experienced some of the toughest blows to students during the pandemic. The Class of 2021 has risen to the occasion, creating moments of joy, paving new traditions, and making lasting bonds.

We are all cheering for our graduates, and look forward to seeing the Class of 2021 soar. Congratulations, the world is fortunate to have you!

Recognizing Pride Month

June is Pride Month, promoting the dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. We in LOSD join in celebrating overcoming prejudice and being accepted for who you are.

Royal Rosarian Newsmaker of the Year

The Royal Rosarians are honoring some of the 2020 heroes and heroines in the community. In partnership with the Royal Rosarians, KOIN TV is nominating LOSD employee Hector Calderon as its "Newsmaker of the Year." Newsmakers are awarded a Royal Rosarian bronze medallion.

In 2020 Hector made national news as the first person in a school district in the United States, and the first person in Oregon, to be diagnosed with the novel virus. He spent months on a ventilator in the hospital. The day Hector was able to return home was a moment of incredible joy during this entire pandemic.

Hector is now back at Forest Hills Elementary, where he is a beloved member of the school and district custodial team. When asked about the ordeal, Hector says he is grateful to God, and to our community. We are all grateful for Hector.

Hunger Fighters is also hiring. It's currently in the process of searching for its first Executive Director to manage the pantry for a part-time position, starting as soon as possible. Find all the information here: HFO - We're Hiring

Please Verify Your Student's Information

Beginning April 30, LOSD needs parents-guardians of all students enrolled for the 2021-22 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:

  • Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
  • Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
  • Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.

If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." If you are unsure whether you have a ParentVUE account, contact your student's school. For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website or contact your student's school.
