2nd Grade @ ROE
#AdventureAwaits
Week of : September 9-13
Welcome
We are so excited for all of our new friends that have joined us in 2nd grade! This year is going to be filled with lots of fun adventures and laughter. We invite you to join us on our adventure of positive energy! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
2nd Grade Adventures
In order to promote high attendance, we will be spelling out the word ATTENDANCE. Each day that our class has 100% attendance a letter will be added. When the whole word is spelled out, we will celebrate. We will also have a school wide prize for the grade level with the highest attendance. Please help us reach our goal in 2nd grade!
Students had fun displaying their knowledge of place value with food. In science we practiced the steps of the scientific method by testing what happens when you mix two different colors of playdoh.
Academics
ELAR: This week we will focus on a non fiction text discussing text features and various phonics/ word study patterns.
Math: This week students will compare and order numbers by place value up to 1,200.
Science: We will collect, record and compare information.
Social Studies: Students will practice reading maps, using a map key, compass rose and a map scale.
Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus:
Play a board game with your family. This is a great way to work on thinking strategically and work on social skills of sharing, and being a good sport. Send a picture to your teacher of you playing a game with your family to earn dojo points.
