Each child will be given a stocking and students may bring stocking stuffers (pencils, erasers, highlighters, candy, toys, etc.) to add to each stocking. Math, Science, and Social Studies
We will continue working on our 8 facts in math fluency this week. This is where students begin to have more difficulty so please make sure they are working on these facts at home. Continue to work with your child on their math facts each night. The fact cards are in your child's pencil pouch. Also, continue to work on all previous facts: 1's through 6's, 9's, 10's, and 11's. We will have our accuracy check on the 8 facts this Friday.
Social Studies-We had a great week learning about King George III, the colonists, and the Revolutionary War. We also learned about the Stamp Act, the Quartering Act, the Boston Tea Party, and the Declaration of Independence. This week we will continue studying the Revolutionary War and its affect on the Constitution and the government we have today.
Reading, Writing, and Word Study
Reading--We will reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever together in class. We will focus on summarizing and character analysis.
Reminder--all students are expected to have a "grade appropriate" book to read in class every day. (This means a chapter book or a longer non-fiction selection--not Where's Waldo or a joke book). We do classroom library check in and out each Tuesday and Friday, and each class has a weekly trip to the school library.
Writing--We will be working on our research presentations and getting those finished and submitted. We will also be working this week on some goodies to come home for Christmas.
