6th Grade - Information

Our 6th graders took home the permission slip this week for their participation in UCS's annual Career Focus Luncheon. This year the event will be at Palazzo Grande and the keynote speaker will be Jeanna Trotman from WXYZ Channel 7. Beck students will be presenting their plans for future careers and enjoying a 'business lunch' with a mentor. Those permission slips are due back by Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Also, our 6th graders have an opportunity to purchase a composite photo of the class from Kaiser Studio. Those order forms also came home this week. Parents can purchase one for their family by sending in the order envelope with a check, or going online at Kaiser Studio and ordering it directly. Online orders should use the ID code: GCBECK22

If families need copies of either item above, please just call our office!

"Breakfast Door" - For Breakfast Only

Sometime during our inclement weather, many students began going in the 'Breakfast Door' each morning - but not to eat breakfast. Unfortunately the problem has grown and now we are experiencing way too many students in the cafeteria each morning. Students should go to their designated door to line up every day - unless they are eating breakfast. Students will be asked at the door if they are here to eat. If they are not eating, they will be directed to their outside classroom door.

Since students line up outside, please do not drop your child off too early. School starts at 8:40 and our doors open to admit students into the building at 8:35 a.m. Families should plan your drop off close to 8:30.

The "Breakfast Door" will stop admitting students for breakfast at 8:35.

Have an Unused Tricycle in your Garage?

If you have a tricycle in your garage that is no longer being used - please consider donating it to Beck! We are looking for some recreational equipment for our Young 5's and our CORE+ kindergarten students to use for recess times. If you have a tricycle you are willing to donate, please give us a call (586) 797-3900.

Spring is Around the Corner - and so are muddy wet clothes!

As the snow melts, we are finding more 'accidents' with students falling into wet areas, or getting pants/shoes muddy, during recess times. If you have 'outgrown' clothes from your children, and would like to donate a few, please let us know!

Our 'clothes closet' of loaner items is very low right now. We are in need of:

  • Boys Sweatpants or pants both large and small sizes
  • Underwear - boys and girls
  • Socks - boys and girls
  • Girls sweatpants or pants - size 6x or above

Having a loaner closet of clothes helps parents not have to run to school to provide dry clothing for their child if they fall in a puddle or have their chocolate milk fall on their lap at lunch! If your child needs to borrow some, simply wash them and send them back for another future user.

UCS FOOD SERVICES

All breakfasts and lunches are at no cost for 2021-2022 school year through a federal funding program!

You can find menus, allergen and nutrition on the link: www.uticak12.nutrislice.com

Optional Breakfast service begins at 8:15 a.m. each morning. Students will enter through the outside cafeteria door (along front parking lot).
