Time to Tighten Up in 2022!
We have had an abundance of discipline issues and lack of following through on expectations set forth at orientation and in our handbook to be/ stay a Clark student. This MUST change in semester 2. Here are a few of the situations where students are abusing the freedoms here at Clark. More significant discipline consequences will be enforced next semester as we need to ensure a safe, positive LEARNING environment for all. After all, learning is the priority at Clark!
Commonly abused expectations:
- Arriving to class on time, daily- once in a while, traffic is heavy, you oversleep, your ride is late, but this cannot become a continual excuse for simply not planning properly.
- Not having ID card- we understand forgetting it once... after a warning, your parent will be notified and the $10 replacement charge will be added. Repeated refusal to present your ID will be handled through consequences related to defiance.
- Dress code (extremely short shorts/dresses, spaghetti straps, undergarments showing, much more midriff...)
- Leaving campus during class times without seeing Mrs. Wood and being signed out at the front desk first.

Every day is a celebration!
Make a Difference Mondays! A great way to make a difference is to simply smile and say hello to people. A gesture as small as holding open a door or saying good morning can change the whole course of someone’s day! Try it!
Take Care Tuesdays! You’ve probably heard the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” While the phrase was first coined in 1913, it was based on a Pembrokeshire proverb that originated in 1866. Since then, it has been proven that apples are really great for your health. Apples are loaded with important nutrients, including fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They also support heart health, contain cancer fighting compounds, promote brain function, and protect against asthma. I think it is time we all start eating more apples!
Way to Go Wednesdays! This week’s recognized student has been caught being kind a couple of times recently. When the holiday elves were decorating a couple of weeks ago, a big stack of trees and decorations began to fall and Ben Wetterer quickly jumped in to help prevent a big mess. Also in the past week, Dr. Judd overheard a group of students talking about how kind and nice he is also! We are glad to have such a helpful and kind student here with us!
Thankful Thursdays! A parent shared, “Ms. Decker is a blessing to the Clark Family. The other day we had a last minute family situation and I had to pick up my son early. I was in a rush and wasn't quite sure what the protocol was for early release. A bit flustered, I called the school and was greeted by a pleasant voice. She was very kind and explained everything to me, and actually, after speaking with her my nerves were calmer regarding my own personal circumstances as well! Thank you, Ms. Decker, for shining your light for the students and families of Clark!”
Fun Fact Fridays! As submitted by a parent, here are some Fun Facts About Pencils!
*The average pencil can be sharpened 17 times and write about 45,000 words or draw a line 35 miles long before it’s out of service.
*Pencils can also be used in zero gravity, upside down, or even underwater!
*Before pencil erasers were invented, a common way to get rid of pencil markings was with a rolled up piece of white bread!
*Teachers resisted erasers when they were first invented because they thought they’d encourage kids to make mistakes.
Handbook Highlight p. 14- Cell phone/ Electronic Device Use
Most of our teachers already require phones to be placed in the numbered holders in the classroom upon entering class. Please note that it is not optional. We will be expecting all students to comply with our code of conduct that prohibits having your phone within reach during class time, unless a teacher is having you use it for classroom instruction/ activities. Non-compliance will be handled through the consequences in the handbook (begins on page 32 and can include confiscation of phone for parent pick up).
