TEAM TWENTY NEWS
OCTOBER 2015
September Flash Back
What a great start to the new year we had! Camp was fantastic! The staff at Ohiyesa were second to none and we cannot thank the chaperons enough for sacrificing their sleep and taking care of our kids. The students in room 20 accomplished a lot last month. They researched, measured, and designed the learning environment. They wrote proposals to enhance their learning and submitted their ideas to donorschoose.org. They researched bearded dragons and prepared detailed posters to inform others. They began to investigate the generalization: The interactions between objects in space affect life on Earth. They have researched a celestial body and used Google Classroom to write reports. Students completed a math unit on place value to the millions and using estimation for mental math. I am so proud of the way they have dug right in!

THIS MONTH IN ROOM 20
This month students will complete their investigation in to how the interactions between objects in the solar system affect life on Earth. We will begin book clubs and investigate reading closely to comprehend fiction and how to compare and contrast characters and stories. Students will continue to work on narrative writing with the goal of producing a piece of fiction set on a celestial body in our solar system. That should be almost as exciting as the Halloween celebration on October 30th! Stay tuned and check out the website for more!
